Roger J. Godfrey

Roger J. Godfrey, a cherished husband, father, and grandfather, passed away peacefully on October 10, 2025, at the age of 91. He was born on February 16, 1934.

Roger proudly served his country as a Marine during the Korean War. He remained an active member of the American Legion in Crum Lynne and the Marine Corps League in Newtown Square, continuing to honor his fellow veterans and serve his community. He retired from the Philadelphia Electric Company after a 32 year career.

Roger is survived by his beloved wife of 65 years, Rose Ann “Sis” (nee Gesualdo) Godfrey. He is survived by their daughter, Lisa (Daniel) Lane. Roger loved his role as a grandfather to his grandchildren, Daniel Jr. (Miranda) and Jessica. Roger is also survived by his goddaughter Wendy Miller; as well as extended family and friends.

Roger was preceded in death by his mother, Winona (nee McVeigh) Essick and his brother-in-law, Ronald D. Gesualdo.

A Funeral Mass in memory of Roger will be held on October 16, 2025, at SS Simon & Jude Church located at 8 Cavanaugh Ct, West Chester, PA 19382. The Mass will begin at 10:30 AM followed by his interment at Valley Forge Memorial Gardens, King of Prussia, PA.
