Robertta Louise Krok

Robertta Louise Krok (née Winterbottom), affectionately known as Bobbie-Lou, passed away peacefully on July 24, 2026, at the age of 76. A longtime resident of Havertown, Pennsylvania, she was a devoted wife, mother, and cherished Mom-Mom whose kindness, generosity, and unwavering love touched everyone who knew her.

She was born in Upper Darby and graduated from Upper Darby High School in 1967, where she was in the choir and the color guard. Upon graduation she worked as secretary to the President of Drexel University. Although she had the opportunity to become Arnold Palmer's secretary, she chose a different path after meeting the love of her life, Peter Krok. Following a three-month courtship, they became engaged and were married a year later on Sept. 8, 1973, beginning a loving partnership that would span more than five decades.

Bobbie-Lou dedicated herself wholeheartedly to her family and community. She was deeply involved in her church and her children's lives, serving as a Girl Scout troop leader, children's choir director, Cub Scout leader, and, of course, the devoted chauffeur who made sure her children never missed one of their many activities. During the lengthy Philadelphia School District teachers' strike, she even joined other neighborhood mothers in teaching elementary school children for two months so they could continue learning.

Known throughout the neighborhood for her caring spirit, Bobbie-Lou was the person children sought out to learn how to tie their shoes. Her home was a place of warmth and welcome, where there was always a snack waiting after school (with a soap opera on the TV) and an open door for family, friends, and anyone in need. Together, she and Peter welcomed many long-term guests into their home, offering both hospitality and compassion. Later in life, she became actively involved with Thresholds Prison Ministry, continuing her lifelong commitment to serving others. She will be remembered for her kindness, selflessness, empathy, and the genuine care she showed to everyone she met.

She was predeceased by her son, Eric P. Krok; her parents Harriet (née Frame) and Robert Winterbottom; and her sister Harriet McCoy.

Bobbie-Lou is survived by her devoted husband of 52 years, Peter Krok; her loving daughters, Karen Krok and her husband, Matthew Caples, of Hershey, Pennsylvania, and Alison McDowell and her husband, Josh, of Billings, Montana; and her cherished grandchildren, Drew, Ryann, and Reese McDowell; Charlotte and Claire Caples; and Olivia Krok.

Bobbie-Lou’s funeral will be held July 31 at St. James United Church of Christ located at 135 Myrtle Ave in Havertown. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m., followed by the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Family and friends are invited to remain afterward for a luncheon to share stories and celebrate Bobbie-Lou's life. A private interment at Laurel Hill Cemetery will follow for the family.
