Robert “Bubba” J. Adams, born on November 2, 1968, passed away on April 18, 2026, leaving behind a legacy marked by a dedicated family man, leadership, and community service. His life was a testament to commitment both to his family and the many causes to which he devoted his time and energy.
From the young age of sixteen, Bubba embarked on a lifelong journey in firefighting, beginning as a volunteer fireman with the Broomall Fire Company. His zeal for service led him briefly to the Clifton Heights Fire Company before finding his long-standing home at Highland Park Fire Company. Over the years at Highland Park, Robert exemplified leadership and courage, serving in numerous capacities including firefighter, Lieutenant, Captain, Assistant Chief, Deputy Chief, and ultimately, Chief. His involvement extended beyond the fire lines as he also contributed significantly to the corporate operations on the board of directors, demonstrating a profound commitment to enhancing the safety and effectiveness of the community’s firefighting efforts.
Bubba was an avid fitness enthusiast and a proud member of Customized Phitness Gym. His passion for health and wellness was matched by his love of cooking. He enjoyed spending time outdoors whether it was going out biking, hiking, or on the water kayaking, fishing, or paddle boarding. He was also an avid Philadelphia Eagles fan.
His community spirit was further evident through his volunteer work with DELCO Dawgs.
While his kids were growing up, he spent most of his time coaching their many sports teams in the 1990s with the Drexel Hill Raiders.
Bubba’s family was at the heart of his life. He is lovingly survived by his wife, Shannon (nee Taylor) Adams, and their children: Robert C. Adams (Christina); Heather Adams; and Bryan Adams (Caitlyn Cooke). His legacy continues through his cherished grandchildren, Sterling, Damien, and Payton Rose. Robert is also survived by his mother, Ann (nee Presta) Adams, his grandmother, Helen Presta, his brother, Michael Adams, and the faithful companionship of his dogs. His father, Robert J. Adams, predeceased him. He is also survived by “his adopted son, Marcus Wier.”
Relatives and friends are invited to Bubba’s viewing on Wednesday, April 22, 2026 from 9:00 AM to 11:30 AM, followed by the funeral service from 11:30 AM, both at The Donohue Funeral Home, 8401 West Chester Pike, Upper Darby, PA. Interment private.
Robert J. Adams’ unwavering dedication to his community and family, his leadership in firefighting, and his spirited contributions as a fitness enthusiast and coach have left an indelible mark on all who knew him. He will be remembered with deep respect and enduring affection.
