Robert Peter Dwyer Jr., of Wayne, PA, passed peacefully into eternal life on February 14, 2026, at his home, with his devoted wife, Patricia, by his side.
Born in New Haven, Connecticut, Bob was the eldest child of the late Robert Peter and Elizabeth (Suchecki) Dwyer Sr. His lifelong reverence for nature was born in the woodlands and waters of Morris Cove and only deepened when his family moved to Avon, CT, during his high school years. A graduate of Avon High School, Bob spent his youth fishing, skiing, and birdwatching as a dedicated member of the Audubon Society—all while sharpening the trademark wit that would become his calling card. He began his higher education at Fairfield University before graduating from the University of Connecticut and later earning his MBA from the NYU Stern School of Management.
Bob and Pat began their married life in New York City, the same city where they welcomed their three children and where Bob launched his banking career at Irving Trust Company. In 1985, what was intended to be a three-year expatriate assignment in Asia evolved into a remarkable 15-year international journey. His leadership eventually led him to head the Taiwan office for the Bank of New York, and in 1992, he began a nearly 28-year tenure with the organization that would become Wells Fargo. Throughout the transitions of CoreStates, First Union, and Wachovia, Bob remained a steadying force for the Taiwan offices. Upon returning to the United States in 2001, he spent years commuting between Philadelphia and Los Angeles before retiring in 2019 as Senior Vice President and Trade Relationship Manager. Across continents and decades, he left a legacy of professional integrity and mentorship that earned him the lifelong respect of colleagues worldwide.
Bob was a born naturalist with keen situational awareness, as comfortable in a high-powered board meeting as he was casting a line on Marsh Creek Lake. His hobbies were a testament to his "all-in" nature. An avid cyclist, he rode rain or shine, even building his own bicycles; in Taiwan, he regularly completed "century circuits" over Yangmingshan Mountain. Whether on a road bike or a motorcycle, Bob loved the open road. A true craftsman, he took pride in fixing almost anything, from repointing the chimney to building backyard tree forts. He was a long-time member and past Treasurer of the Lower Providence Rod and Gun Club, where he competed in IDPA matches and meticulously loaded his own ammunition. During his years in Taipei, he served as President of the American Club in China and was frequently found on the tennis and racquetball courts.
Despite his many interests, Bob’s true pride was his family. As a father, he sought a unique connection with each of his children. He shared a bond of professional ambition with his beloved daughter, Courtney, who made him a grandfather; found a partner for every adventure—from hunting and fishing to riding and building—with his son and namesake, Robert III; and shared a love of technology and the humanities with his son, Michael. Over the years, the family home was enlivened by the many pets Bob brought home, from birds and hamsters to snakes and turtles.
In his later years, Bob was delighted to welcome Michael, Ashley, and Elena into his family. He was a fixture in the lives of his grandchildren. He watched with pride as Avery and Addison grew into young women, delighted in teaching Andrew and William to fish and respect nature, and cherished every moment with young Lena, passing on his signature curiosity.
Bob was a man of deep faith and an active member of Mother of God Parish in Taipei and St. Katharine of Siena in Wayne. He took a keen interest in everyone he met, always looking for a common bond. With a legendary wit and a mischievous twinkle in his eye that signaled a joke was in development, he made life an adventure for everyone around him.
Bob is survived by his devoted wife of nearly 50 years, Patricia; his children, Courtney Beeker (Michael), Robert III (Ashley), and Michael (Elena); and his five grandchildren, Avery, Addison, Andrew, William, and Lena. He is also survived by his siblings, Sharyn Liberatore (Paul), Dwight (Susan Tondreau), and Timothy; his brothers and sisters-in-law Victoria O’Keefe, Katherine Thomsen (Dr. Jeffrey), Thomas O’Keefe (Jerri), Kevin O’Keefe, John O’Keefe (MaryBeth), Mary Perrotti (Robert), Genevieve DeFelice (James), and Paul O’Keefe; and many dear nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. He was predeceased by his parents, Robert and Elizabeth Dwyer; his in-laws, John and Martha O’Keefe; his brother-in-law, Timothy O’Keefe; and his nephews, Sean and David O'Keefe.
Bob’s presence was a gift to all who knew him. His wisdom, his adventures, and his legendary wit have left an indelible mark on our hearts. He will be dearly missed.
