Rita Ann Cicero, 75, passed away on February 23, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. The beloved daughter of the late William J. and late Rita G. (nee Verica) Fair, Rita is survived by her loving husband F. Louis Cicero; daughters, Andrea Rock (Mitchell) and Aimee Cicero, and grandchildren Kyle and Bella Rock.
Rita Ann was a voracious reader and writer from a young age and was a member of multiple book clubs throughout her life. She especially enjoyed mysteries, most likely stemming from her love of Nancy Drew books as a child. She parlayed her love for writing into a career, first as a community journalist for the News of Delaware County and then later as a legal writer for Thompson Reuters, covering landmark Supreme Court cases.
Rita Ann was also what many referred to as a “globetrotter,” visiting countries large and small, as well as setting sail on cruise ships both large and small. Some may say she was a “Celebrity” on every cruise ship she boarded.
The true love of her life, however, was her family. Growing up in a large mixed Italian and Irish family, there was no shortage of cousins, aunts, uncles and friends filling every dinner table and she continued that tradition when she started her own boisterous family with the love of her life, Louie.
Relatives and friends are invited to celebrate Rita Ann’s life at a viewing on Friday, March 8, 2024 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at The Donohue Funeral Home, 3300 West Chester Pike, Newtown Square, PA, 610-353-6300, and on Saturday, March 9, 2024, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at St. Maximilian Kolbe Church, 15 E. Pleasant Grove Road, West Chester, PA, followed by her Funeral Mass at 11:00 AM. The interment will take place at SS. Peter and Paul Cemetery, 1600 Sproul Road, Springfield, PA, immediately following the service.
In lieu of flowers, the Cicero Family asks that contributions are made in Rita Ann’s name to the American Association for Cancer Research (AACR), https://www.aacr.org/ways-to-give/. Founded in 1907 in Philadelphia, the AACR is the world’s first and largest organization dedicated to advancing cancer research and its mission to prevent and cure cancer.
