Richard Todd Sommers

September 23, 1962 — December 30, 2025

Richard Todd Sommers, age 63, passed away on December 30, 2025. He was a resident of Aston, Pennsylvania, and was born in Chester, Pennsylvania. Richard was the beloved son of the late Ralph Sommers and Delores Sommers (née Grimes).

Richard graduated from Sun Valley High School, Class of 1980. He went on to build a long and dedicated career with Boeing, where he worked for over 25 years as a Production Controller, contributing to the assembly of the V-22 Osprey and CH-47 Chinook helicopters.

After retirement, Richard remained active as a landscaper, one of his many passions. He had a deep love for nature, caring for his own plants, and was a devoted animal lover who rescued animals throughout his life.

In his earlier years, Richard was a competitive bodybuilder, most notably placing third at Mr. Delaware in 1991. He enjoyed riding dirt bikes, watching football with friends and family, and was a lifelong Philadelphia Eagles fan. He also proudly coached his son Damon’s football team.

Like his father, Richard was an artist who loved drawing caricatures. He was a gifted storyteller with a wonderful sense of humor. Christmas was his favorite holiday, and he cherished sharing meals and time with family and friends—especially his sons, Damon and Kyle.

Richard is survived by his sons Damon Richard Sommers and Kyle Anthony Sommers; his loving ex-wife and dear friend Kimberly Ann Sommers (née Piraino); his twin brother Robert Scott Sommers; his brothers David Sommers, Garry Sommers and wife Laurel, and Barry Sommers and wife Susan; and his many nieces and nephews.

Funeral and memorial services will be announced at a later date.
