Richard S. Francis

September 21, 1933 — July 1, 2024

Richard (Dick) Springer Francis, 90, of West Chester, PA, passed away July 1, 2024.

Born September 21, 1933 in Uniontown, PA, he was the son of the late Altha Edgar and Josephine (nee Munk) Francis. Dick was also the identical twin brother of the late Robert Munk Francis and step-brother to the late Margorie Stader.

Dick served honorably in the United States Army during the Korean War. He was a graduate of Bethany College and worked in the steel industry until his retirement in 2011.

Dick was a longtime member of Aronimink Golf Club, as well as Oakmont Country Club. If he wasn't on the golf course you could find him playing gin rummy in the men's grill; and if he wasn't playing cards, he was watching college basketball. He enjoyed the excitement of March Madness even if Duke didn’t win every year. Dick was also an avid reader and had a continued interest in furthering his education in many areas of history. He enjoyed spending quality time with his wife, many friends, and family; often over cocktails and hors d'oeuvres.

Dick was the beloved husband of Nancy (nee Harrison) Francis; loving step-father of Gayle Meisenhelter (Collin), Marc E'Nama (Penni), Anne and Blythe Lowry, and Jonathan Myers; proud step-grandfather to Grace, Max, and Grant Meisenhelter, Abby E'Nama, and Christina and Molly O'Malia; adoring great-step-grandfather to Riley O'Malia; dedicated uncle to Robert (Chip) David Francis, caring great-uncle to Kimberly and Megan Francis, and loyal brother-in-law to Christine Francis.

Relatives and friends are invited to his Visitation 2:00-3:00 PM Friday, July 19, 2024 at The Donohue Funeral Home, 1627 West Chester Pike, West Chester, PA 19382, 610-431-9000, followed by his Memorial Service at 3:00 PM. Interment will be private at Washington Crossing National Cemetery at a later date.
