Reverend Bruce E. Quigley

Reverend Bruce E. Quigley, 71, of Collegeville, PA, passed away September 12, 2023.

Born March 24, 1952 in Alma, Michigan and raised in Carney's Point, NJ, he was a son of the late Thayne E. and Ruth (nee Sturgis) Quigley.

Bruce attended St Paul’s United Methodist Church in Penn’s Grove in his youth, where he met his high school sweetheart, Kathleen Johnston, whom shared his journey for nearly 50 years. He was a graduate of University of Delaware and earned his Masters of Divinity from the Princeton Theological Seminary. He was ordained as an elder by the Greater New Jersey United Methodist Conference in 1978. He served for 42 years as a United Methodist pastor in New Jersey including: Windsor United Methodist Church, St. Peter’s United Methodist Church in Ocean City, Avon / Bradley Beach United Methodist Church, Beverly United Methodist Church, Manasquan United Methodist Church, and First United Methodist Church of Toms River. He also served the communities near and far including Manasquan Office of Emergency Management and the Bolivia dental mission. He retired in 2016 and he and Kathy moved to Collegeville, PA.

Bruce enjoyed watching sports and was an avid Phillies, Eagles, and Villanova Wildcats fan. He loved traveling, reading, and bowling. His greatest joy in retirement was joining Kathy in spending time with their kids and grandchildren and watching their activities.

Bruce was the beloved husband of almost 50 years of Kathleen (nee Johnston) Quigley; loving father of David Quigley (Cassie) and Jarrod Quigley (Katie); adoring grandfather of Andrew, Owen, Patrick, Kaylin, and Kelsea; and dear brother of Elayne Guy (John) and brother-in law of Gary Johnston (Karen) and Faith Johnston. He is also survived by his six nephews and his niece. He was predeceased by his brother-in-law Stephen Johnston.

Relatives and friends are invited to his Visitation 2:00 PM to 2:45 PM, Sunday, September 17, 2023 at St. Matthew’s United Methodist Church of Valley Forge, 600 Walker Rd, Wayne, PA 19087, followed by his Funeral Service at 3:00 PM. 

The family kindly request that no flowers be sent. Instead, memorial contributions may be made to St. Matthew’s United Methodist Church of Valley Forge in furtherance of Christian Education.
