Rebecca Jeanne Lightfoot

Rebecca Jeanne Lightfoot, 54 of Exton, PA, passed away May 29, 2025.

Born August 17, 1970 in Meadowbrook, PA, she was the second of seven children and oldest daughter of David A. Lightfoot and Patricia B. (nee Blake) Lightfoot.

Rebecca was valedictorian of her high school class and shared her talent by playing the piano at her high school graduation.  She loved to learn and enjoyed music.  She attended West Chester University (WCU) for several years with a major in Psychology and also enjoyed taking Spanish classes. While at WCU she was an aerobic instructor and worked part-time jobs in the dining hall and fast food service.  In her early thirties she fell in love and became best friends with Carlos Martinez and lived with him for the rest of her life.

Rebecca was a creative and talented person who enjoyed music, painting, fixing things and taking long drives in her car.  Her good humor and words of wisdom helped many others in the group therapy sessions that were part of her life.  She was fluent in four languages which she voluntarily used to help many disadvantaged individuals in need of translation services.  In recent years side effects of medicine and health issues limited her physical activity. In spite of those physical limitations she continued to help numerous followers in need of her humor and words of wisdom through web-sites that she hosted.

During the day of her passing siblings and Carlos were at her side speaking words of love, assurance and sorrow to her.  At the moment of her passing an email was being read out loud to her from her best friend Marlene who was praising Rebecca for her help.

In addition to her parents, Rebecca is survived by her partner of over 20 years Carlos Martinez, her siblings and their families:  David Lightfoot (Roxanne), Matthew Lightfoot (Rachel) and their children, Lucas and Isabella,  Jonathan Lightfoot, Gabrielle Montalvo (David) and their children, David, Jacob, Zachary and Hannah, Sarah Miller (Keith) and their children, Justin and Kai, and Amy Stewart (Jonathan) and their children Anna and Ronan.

Relatives and friends are invited to her visitation on Friday July 11, 2025 from 2pm to 3pm at The Donohue Funeral Home, 43 W. Lancaster Avenue, Downingtown, PA 19335, followed by a Celebration of Life at 3 pm.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Devereux Pennsylvania Children’s Services, 390 East Boot Road, West Chester, PA 19380 in memory of Rebecca J. Lightfoot.
