Raymond T. “Ray” Walmsley, Jr., age 79, of Newtown Square, PA, passed away at home peacefully on April 11, 2023, with his loving wife by his side.
Born in Upper Darby, PA, he was the son of the late Raymond T. and Clara (née McKone) Walmsley.
Ray was proud to serve his country honorably in the U.S. Air Force. He also served the public with great dedication as a Haverford Police Officer, with rank of Sergeant, in Law Enforcement. Ray joined the Llanerch Fire Company at the age of 18 moving through the ranks, including that of Chief, until he proudly achieved Lifetime Membership.
Ray enjoyed following NASCAR and loved traveling to many races with his children. He enjoyed target shooting, swimming, and making his specialties of soups and chili. Ray also liked a good cup of coffee, driving a multitude of vehicles, gun collecting, and cruising to anywhere. He loved visiting Hilton Head Island, SC, Brigantine, NJ, and other shore points. But by far, he loved being at home with his family.
Ray was a charitable, loving, and hardworking man, who was a good provider to his family, and had a great sense of humor. He will be dearly missed by all.
Ray was the beloved husband of Jo-Ann (née Sheeran) Walmsley; the loving father of Raymond T. Walmsley, III (Amanda), Daniel J. Walmsley (Nancy), and Jackie C. Priadka (Jon). He was the proud grandfather of Anna, Samantha, Teddy, Reagan, Daniel, Jr., Marlena, Isabelle, and Kyle.
