Raymond H. Stinger, Jr.

November 2, 1932 — June 4, 2025

Springfield, PA

Raymond Stinger, Jr. of Springfield, PA, passed away on June 4, 2025 at the age of 92. Born on November 2, 1932 in Philadelphia, he was the beloved son of the late Raymond Stinger, Sr. and Alice Stinger (nee Arnold), and brother to Alice Mae Scott.

Ray worked as a systems analyst at CIGNA for most of his career and retired in 1994. When his children were young, he enjoyed vacationing with his family in the Poconos and Wildwood, and loved posing for pictures with the fish he caught, big or small. He also had a love of model trains and would set them up on platforms in his basement around Christmastime (and tried hard to keep the cats off of them). Ray loved all animals, especially dogs and cats, and had many over the years. He also had a large number of giraffes gifted to him by family and friends that took up a corner of his basement.

Ray would talk to anyone at any time about anything – he had the gift of gab (as all his family, friends and strangers know!). He enjoyed trips to the casino to play blackjack and slots, and continued his love of gambling by buying scratch-off lotto tickets. Through his later years, he cultivated his love of gardening by growing tomatoes in pots on his deck and sharing the surplus with his neighbors (when he got tired of all the tomato sandwiches).

Ray is survived by his beloved wife of 72 years, Barbara Stinger; his daughter, Kim Stinger, and son, Allan Stinger; his grandchildren, Nicole, Gregg, Kristy, and Tina; and his great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Kassidy, Nasier, Jameson, Rayanne, Dylan, and Kolton. He is predeceased by his daughter Debra Miller. He will be missed by everyone who knew him.

Interment private.
