Dr. Raymond A. Rogowski, retired pathologist practiced in Delaware and Chester Counties for over 50 years passed on Saturday, December 13, 2025.
Ray established medical laboratories at Paoli Memorial Hospital and Jennersville Medical Center, where he served as lab director and was a consultant to the Chester County Coroner’s Office for 30 years. He was a graduate of St. Joseph’s Prep, St. Joseph’s University and Thomas Jefferson University where he earned his degree in Medicine. He was board certified in Clinical and Anatomic Pathology and an Emeritus Fellow in both the College of American Pathologists and the American Society of Clinical Pathologists. Ray received an adjunct professorship of Anatomy and Physiology at Philadelphia University where he taught courses to aspiring science students when he retired. While in practice he was a Fellow in the College of Physicians of Philadelphia.
In retirement Dr. Ray offered medical laboratory consulting services to Commercial
Laboratories and participated in diagnostic testing and research in Lyme disease. His primary interests were in Science and Medicine while his other avocations were in the fields of political philosophy, critical religious and biblical historical analysis, the lives and works of the great classical Western music composers and world history. His hobbies included antique car restoration and collection, model trains, chess, sailing, cooking, playing piano and guitar, and home and barn building construction.
Dr. Ray was co-founder of Widener University’s OLLI Program for seniors where he taught the lives and medical problems of the classic era composers, laboratory interpretation of medical testing and various classes on current scientific discoveries of the Universe.
Dr. Ray was married to Margaret F. Kane, “Peggy” (deceased June 2, 2021) for 63 years. They had four children, Raymond A. II (SP. Jennifer), Christopher J. (SP. Wyndham), Margaret M. (SP. Ken), Michael A (SP. Angel), nine grandchildren, five great grandchildren and, one more expected in April.
Relatives and friends are invited to visitation Friday, December 19th at St. Maximillian Kolbe Church, 15 E. Pleasant Grove Road, West Chester, Pa. from 9:30am - 10:30am followed by his Funeral Mass at 10:30am. Interment Edgewood Memorial Garden Cemetery, Glen Mills, Pa.
