Rachael Rava McFillin passed away peacefully on May 8, 2025, after a long and courageous battle with breast cancer.
Rachael lived a beautiful life devoted to her family. She grew up in Audubon, Pennsylvania, in a loving home with her parents, Diana (Wyandt) and Joseph Rava, and her brother, Dr. Joe Rava. The family spent their summers on Hilton Head Island, a place Rachael deeply loved.
Her life changed forever when she met her true love, Christopher McFillin, in college. Together, they built a life in Philadelphia. They shared an unconditional love and raised their daughter, Anna, and son, Daniel to be as kind and loving as Rachael was.
Rachael’s love for Hilton Head Island was quickly instilled in her husband, children, and dear friends. They spent every summer together at the beach, the Salty Dog Café, Harbor Town, and many more of her favorite spots.
To her friends, Rachael was a force—someone you felt lucky to know. She welcomed Anna and Danny’s friends as her own, always sharing her warmth and love. That love will continue to live on in the memories, places, and people she held dear.
Rachael is survived by her loving parents, Diana (Wyandt) and Joseph Rava; her brother, Joe Rava (Linda); her beloved husband, Chris; her daughter, Anna; her son, Daniel; her brothers-in-law, David C. McFillin Jr. (Linda), F. Burke McFillin (Kim), and Andrew T. McFillin (Katie); and several cherished nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her visitation 7:00 to 9:PM Wednesday evening, May 14, 2025 at The Donohue Funeral Home, 8401 West Chester Pike, Upper Darby, PA 19082 and 9:30 AM Thursday, May 15, 2025 at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, 815 Cathedral Road, Philadelphia, PA 19128 immediately followed by her Funeral Mass at 10:30 AM.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Pink Hat Project, an internal charity of Penn Medicine that knits hats for women with breast cancer as their hair grows back after chemotherapy. As the Pink Hat Project prepares to expand this initiative, checks can be made out to Chris McFillin to support its growth.
