Prisco “Chris/Tippy” Pellegrino, a resident of West Chester and formerly of Newtown Square, passed away on June 21, 2025, at the age of 89.
Born and raised in Southwest Philadelphia, PA, he was the son of the late George and Violet (nee Bauer) Pellegrino.
Chris was an alumnus of West Catholic Boys High School, Class of 1955. He honorably served in the Pennsylvania National Guard, an experience that instilled in him the values of discipline and loyalty. Following his military service, he was employed at Oscar Mayer, working there for 35 happy years. After retiring from Oscar Mayer, he was employed at The Camera Shop for 19 years. His work ethic and dedication were hallmarks of his character.
Chris’s commitment to youth was showcased through his role as head coach for both the St. Anastasia School football team and the Paxon Hollow School team. He also coached baseball in several local leagues. His influence on the lives of young athletes was profound, instilling in them values of teamwork and perseverance.
Chris was also a passionate sports enthusiast. He was an avid fan of the Philadelphia Phillies and Eagles. His love for sports was matched by his fondness for pinochle. In addition to his love for sports and cards, Chris enjoyed the camaraderie of the Hershey’s Mill train club and attending local vintage car shows. He also cherished many summers in Sea Isle City, where memories were made with family and friends.
Chris was the beloved husband of Marie (née Loftus) Pellegrino for 65 wonderful years; the loving father of Susan, Linda, Christopher, and Daniel; and the proud and caring grandfather of Aidan, Ava, and Leah. Chris was preceded in death by his brother, George, and is survived by his three siblings as well as many other family members and friends.
Friends and loved ones are invited to celebrate his life during a Visitation on Tuesday, July 1, 2025, from 9:30 am to 10:30 am at St. Anastasia Church, 3301 West Chester Pike, Newtown Square, PA 19073, followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:30 AM. Interment thereafter at SS. Peter and Paul Cemetery, Springfield, PA.
