Peter M. Bruno

January 22, 1949 — April 27, 2025

Haverford, PA

Peter M. Bruno, age 76, of Haverford, PA formerly of Villanova, PA passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on April 27, 2025. He was born on January 22, 1949 in the small town of Luzzi, in the province of Cosenza, in the southern region of Calabria, Italy to the late Guiseppe Bruno and Maria Assunta (Algieri) Bruno.

Pete was very proud of his Italian American heritage. His family emigrated from Italy when he was 7 years old aboard the Andrea Doria in April 1956, three months before the ship’s fateful sinking later that July. His family settled in Conshohocken where he first attended school and learned the English language. It was also during this time that Pete was initially introduced to baseball, which became one of his greatest passions. He played little league baseball through childhood and then at Harriton High School, where he graduated in 1967. He was recruited by Temple University, thus opening doors of opportunity, leading him to St. Joseph’s University where Pete met the love of his life, Regina and earned a B.S. in Business Administration. He also played for the Pen-Del League whereby Pete made life-long contacts and treasured friends.

As a young boy newly arrived in America, Pete adored the 1950’s and 60’s New York Yankees, especially his favorite players, Mickey Mantle and Yogi Berra, thus sealing his avid fondness for the sport. He ultimately lived and breathed the playoffs in Philadelphia for the Phillies, Eagles and his beloved Flyers and had season tickets for all 3 teams. Taking his family to the games brought him so much joy and his infectious passion for Philly’s sports was passed down to his children and grandchildren as well.

Pete lived the American dream, coming to the United States as a poverty-stricken young boy, getting an education, playing sports, becoming a U.S. citizen and then eventually venturing into opening his own business in the Transportation and Logistics Industry in Delaware County, PA in September 1980. Pete worked for 44 years as Owner and President of Three B Transportation finally retiring in September 2024. He loved his work and embraced the trials and triumphs of being a successful, long-term business owner.

Pete loved his Catholic faith. He was an active member of St. John Neumann Church in Bryn Mawr where he served as a communion minister and an usher for over 10 years. Pete had a deep devotion to St. Pio of Pietrelcino and was blessed by St. Padre Pio’s glove in February 2020. He prayed daily, keeping his devotional cards and books by his bedside. Pete was a proud supporter of the SJN Choir and Garage sale, but his greatest joy was seeing all 5 of his grandchildren thrive academically while receiving a Catholic school education.

Lastly, Pete was a devoted family man who believed in living his faith. He was a true humanitarian, always willing to assist friends, family and local causes that were in need. To know Pete, was to love him. He had a generous spirit and a giving heart. He was endearing, quick-witted and always ready with a joke or tale to tell about his early days in Italy. He loved to laugh and had a wonderful habit of making others laugh as well. His warmth and genuine care for others, especially his family and friends, was evident to all who knew him.

Pete will be greatly missed by his loving wife of 52 years, Regina (nee Cabrelli), his cherished children, Stephanie Bruno (Dowling) and Dr. Christopher P. Bruno (Melissa) and his adoring grandchildren, CJ and Alexis Bruno, Gabrielle, Katelyn and Joseph Dowling. He is also survived by his siblings Gina Stumpo, Bambina Lepore (Alexander), Lena Cribb (Allen), his deceased brother Paul and many nieces and nephews. Pete is also survived by his sisters-in-law Andrea Burns (Francis) and Joanne Cabrelli (Margaret Moran).
