Pauline Castelli Mikolajczyk passed away on May 17, 2026 at Christiana Care Hospital, AccentCare Hospice in Newark, DE.
Born in January 1929, in South Philadelphia, she was the daughter of Domenico and Lucy Ferrari Castelli.
Pauline was preceded in death by her husband of over 58 years, Raymond Mikolajczyk; her daughter, Paula Ballard; her grandson, Alexander Ballard; and her siblings, Joseph Castelli and Lucille Sabellico.
Pauline is survived by her son-in-law, Brent Ballard of Winter Garden. FL; nieces, Suzanne Sabellico and Danielle Ferguson of Downingtown, PA; cousin, Maria Rovello of Philadelphia; and other extended family members.
Pauline graduated from the South Philadelphia High School for Girls in 1946 and then worked in a clerical position at the University of Pennsylvania.
In 1949 she married Raymond Mikolajczyk, then, in 1952 they moved to West Chester PA, East Goshen Township, where they resided until 2004. She provided administrative support to her husband's accounting business for many years and also served as the secretary to the East Goshen Township Zoning Board for over ten years.
In 2004, Pauline and Raymond moved to Traditions at Longwood, a 55+ community in Kennett Square. In 2017, a widow since 2007, Pauline moved to the Jenner's Pond Retirement Community in West Grove.
Pauline was a founding member of Sts Simon and Jude Roman Catholic parish in West Chester and, later a member of the St. Patrick's parish in Kennett Square.
Pauline will be remembered for her smile, endearing personality, and sense of humor. Once an avid gardener, she loved walking and enjoying the flowers at Longwood Gardens and Winterthur. May the peace of those special places be always with her.
Anyone wishing to do something in memory of Pauline is encouraged to support cancer and mental health organizations.
Private funeral arrangements are entrusted to the Donohue Funeral Home in West Chester, PA.
