Paul J. Shevlin, Sr.

Paul J. Shevlin, Sr., died peacefully at home on September 25, 2026, after a long battle with Parkinson’s disease.

Born in Scranton, PA to the late Mary and Patrick Shevlin, Paul went to Scranton Prep before enlisting in the United States Navy. Paul met Peggie in 1959 and they married in 1962. He entered the life insurance business shortly after his Naval discharge, and together they raised their seven (7) children. While building a successful life insurance career, Paul attended college and graduate school at night, achieving a Master’s degree in Financial Services from The American College. Paul was the consummate business owner, mentor, coach, and colleague.

As an avid golfer, longtime member, and past president of Llanerch Country Club in Havertown, PA, Paul enjoyed the game of golf and the friendships that came with it. He and Peggie enjoyed many winters in sunny South Florida and countless rounds of golf at The Club at Pelican Bay in Naples. His family is grateful for the many vacations, summers at Lake Wallenpaupack, and weeks in Ocean City, NJ. Paul was also an avid Philadelphia sports fan, especially the Phillies and Eagles.

In 2015, Paul and Peggie started a non-profit foundation dedicated to helping individuals in early recovery and others affected by addiction. The Shevlin Foundation became an important part of Paul and Peggie’s lives and a source of great pride. Through the foundation, they helped create a legacy of hope and support that has helped thousands since 2015.

Paul was a constant source of encouragement and a true provider for his wife and family. His Catholic faith was the cornerstone of his life, guiding his decisions. He leaves behind a legacy of love, commitment, dedication, and service—a life that enriched the lives of countless people. He believed anything was possible with honesty, self-discipline and determination. His life was proof of this.

Paul was the beloved husband of Margaret Mary “Peggie” Shevlin (nee Edelman); loving father of Christine Rizzo, Michael Shevlin, Daniel Shevlin (Linda), Kathleen Boyle (Tom), Matthew Shevlin, Ryan Shevlin (Ana), and the late Paul “PJ” Shevlin; caring brother of Patrick Shevlin, Jr. Also survived by 17 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren who will miss him dearly.

Family and friends are invited to Paul’s Viewing from 6:00-8:00 PM on Wednesday, September 30, 2026 at The Donohue Funeral Home, 8401 West Chester Pike, Upper Darby, PA 19082 and to his Funeral Mass at 12:00 PM on Thursday, October 1, 2026 at St. Pius X Church, 220 Lawrence Rd, Broomall, PA 19008. Interment to follow at SS Peter & Paul Cemetery, Springfield, PA.
