Emblem

Paul M. Popiel Sr., 80, from Norwood, PA, passed away on October 31st. He was born in Chester PA to Stanley and Jessie Popiel (nee Kusiak).

Paul graduated from St. James High School. He went into the Marines in 1965 and went on to earn his HVAC certification when he was discharged in 1967.

Paul married Mary Lou Van Trieste in November 1971 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Morton, PA. They had two children, a son, Paul and a daughter, Jessica.

Paul loved vacationing at Nags Head, NC and Rehoboth, DE, where he often went fishing or crabbing for large portions of each day. He was especially fond of his grandchildren, Anna, Emily and Ben Virgilio, with whom he had many adventures, including bowling, fishing, trips to the park, and feeding claw machines over and over until he finally won the prize. His beloved huskies, Maggie and KittyKitty, were a source of joy and amusement that took him on multiple daily walks that kept him well exercised.

Remaining to cherish Paul’s memory are Mary Lou, his spouse, his son Paul and his daughter, Jessica. Also surviving him are his son-in-law Paul, married to Jessica, and his three grandchildren, Anna, Emily and Ben Virgilio. His surviving siblings are Eugene (Judi), Phillip (Bette), Mary Anne (Fran), Elizabeth (Mark), and Barbara (Dana).

Paul was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Christine, and his brother Ronnie.

Paul’s family would like to extend our deepest gratitude to Mark Schmidt for his love and support during Paul’s final years.
