Patricia Ann "Patty" Giltinan-Cahill

December 3, 1949 — January 27, 2026

Media, PA

Patricia Ann “Patty” Giltinan-Cahill, of Media, PA, cherished mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away on January 27, 2026, at the age of 76.

Born in Johnstown, PA, she was the daughter of the late David and Margaret (née Walters) Giltinan.

Educated to a remarkable standard, Patty held two Master's Degrees that not only exemplified her pursuit of knowledge but also laid the foundation for a distinguished career in human resources. As a Human Resource Director for the U.S. Government, she played a vital role in fostering workplace environments characterized by respect, equity, and professionalism. Her leadership and vision significantly shaped her department's policies and practices, earning her the respect and admiration of colleagues and peers alike. Patty’s colleagues remember her as a true servant leader—someone who put the well-being and growth of others first. She created a positive environment, took action to support others, and even started a lunchtime knitting group to build camaraderie and offer support during challenging times. Her mentorship and kindness were a source of comfort and strength for many.

Patty was the loving mother of Colleen Cahill (Kelly Kusumoto), Michael Cahill, and Kathleen Herrington (Joshua). She was the devoted and caring grandmother of Hana Kusumoto, Noah Kusumoto, and Zachariah Herrington. Her grandchildren especially cherished the time they spent with her—Hana fondly remembers Patty teaching her needlepoint, making special dinners, and always showing boundless love to her and Noah. Patty is also survived by her many colleagues, church family, and friends, and was predeceased by her former spouse, Michael Patrick Cahill.

Patty’s generous spirit touched everyone she met. She was always ready to share her means, her home, her food, and her love. A gifted maker and crafter, Patty always had a project underway—whether knitting, needlepoint, or another creative pursuit. She loved animals, delighted in sweet treats, and found joy in simple pleasures like knitting while watching television. Her warmth, creativity, and generosity will be missed by all who knew her.

A Celebration of Life Service for Patty is being planned for a later date.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Patty’s memory would be appreciated to the Spruce Street Baptist Church, 3701 Gradyville Road, Newtown Square, PA 19073.
