Owen Francis “Herm” Mulhern III, 79, of Edgemont Township, PA, passed away peacefully on January 26, 2026, surrounded by family and friends, after bravely battling many health challenges.
Born on May 8, 1946, in West Philadelphia, Owen was known to everyone who loved him as “Herm.” He grew up in Havertown, PA, as the oldest of 8 kids, and formed lifelong friendships and memories that stayed with him until the end, including time spent in Ocean City, NJ, which always held a special spot in his heart.
Herm attended St. Aloysius Academy for grade school, Malvern Preparatory School, and went on to graduate from Philadelphia Textile in 1969.
After college, Herm joined the United States Marine Corps Reserves alongside his best friend, Jimmy McLaughlin, and his younger brother, Dennis. The three proudly made it through their service together, a bond that Herm always cherished.
Herm achieved success in business, founding the Financial Coach Group, a business built on integrity and hard work that continues to thrive today. But Herm’s greatest priority in life was taking care of his family. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather whose love, generosity, and steady presence defined his life. In 2002, Herm and his beloved wife Jeanne purchased their dream shore house in Cape May, New Jersey, where he spent some of his happiest days, surrounded by family, laughter, and the simple joys of shore life.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 53 years, Jeanne Higgins Mulhern; his four children, Meredith, Owen, Jack, and Erin; and his nine cherished grandchildren, Logan, Keller, Finley, Addy, Aly, Cammy, Kenna, Luke, and Kacie.
Herm was a fun-loving, warm-hearted man who had a gift for making people feel welcome and cared for. He'll be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him, but his spirit will live on in the family he adored and the many lives he touched.
Relatives and friends are invited to his Visitation 6:00-8:00 PM Tuesday, February 3, 2026 and 10:00-11:00 AM Wednesday, February 4, 2026 at The Donohue Funeral Home, 1627 West Chester Pike, West Chester, PA 19382, followed by his Funeral Service at 11:00 AM. Interment private.
