Noreen P. Pyne

June 16, 1932 — December 30, 2025

West Chester

. Noreen Pyne, 93, passed away peacefully on December 30, 2025, in West Chester, Pennsylvania. Born on June 16, 1932, in Cork, Ireland, Noreen lived a rich and fulfilling life that spanned continents and careers, always guided by love for her family and a deep commitment to lifelong learning and service.

Noreen’s early years were spent in Cork City, County Cork, where she attended St. Patrick's Primary School and St. Vincent Secondary School. After completing her secondary education, she enrolled at City Commercial College in Cork, laying the foundation for a dynamic professional journey.

In 1960, at the age of 28, she emigrated to the United States and began a new chapter of her life in Drexel Hill, Pennsylvania, living with her cousin Sean O'Sullivan, his wife Nora, and his family for three years.

She then moved to New York City, where she spent the next 13 years building a career in retail, sales, and customer service management. In 1975, Noreen returned to Ireland to care for her mother. During the next 16 years back in Ireland caring for her mom, she resumed her education at University College Cork and earned degrees in Philosophy and Social Study—an achievement that reflected her enduring intellectual curiosity.

While back in Ireland, Noreen worked in the import/export industry and collaborated with various consulates to support efficient trade operations for Irish companies. Her professional versatility was matched by her adaptability; upon returning to the U.S. in 1991, she entered the insurance industry in New York City. She later joined Mutual of America, where she rose to the position of Senior Tax Manager before retiring in 2011.

In retirement, Noreen settled in West Chester, Pennsylvania, where she became an active member of several senior communities and parishes including St. Simon and Jude, St. Mary Magdalen, and St. Anastasia. Her vibrant social life included participation in book clubs—reflecting her lifelong love of reading—as well as regular card games with friends.

Noreen had many passions that enriched her life and those around her. She was an accomplished seamstress and an avid traveler who explored the world with enthusiasm. Her warmth and generosity extended across generations; she served as a loving pseudo-mother and grandmother to Sean O'Sullivan’s children—John, Jim, Kevin, Danny, Mary, and Noreen—and their families.

She maintained a lifelong relationship with her cousin Sean in Florida; their Saturday morning phone calls were a cherished tradition. Her devotion also extended deeply to her family in Ireland—especially to her sister-in-law Rosalind Pyne, niece Jenna, nephew John, and nieces Anne, Maria, and Noreen.

Noreen was predeceased by her beloved parents John (Jack) Pyne and Mary (Queenie) Pyne; her brothers Edward (Nancy) and James; as well as many uncles, aunts, and cousins both in Ireland and the United States.

A loving and joyful presence within the Pyne (in Ireland) and O’Sullivan and McDevitt families (in the US), Noreen will be deeply missed by all who knew her on both sides of the Atlantic. Her legacy is one of adaptability, kindness, intellect, and unwavering devotion to family.
