Neil J. Ferry, III

December 21, 1943 — April 24, 2024

Neil J. Ferry, III 80, of West Chester, PA, formerly of Havertown, Pa passed away on April 24, 2024

Born December 21, 1943, in Philadelphia, PA he was the son of the late Neil J. Jr. and Miriam R (nee Drakeley) Ferry.

Neil graduated from Monsignor Bonner High School in Drexel Hill, PA in 1961.  After graduation, he served honorably in the U.S Navy from 1961 to 1964 during the Vietnam War and was an electronics specialist aboard the USS Ranger. While serving on the USS Ranger he was proud to have passed the initiation into a select club (Shellbacks) of sailors who have crossed the Equator.

After his service in the Navy, he worked in electronics for AT&T, Bell Telephone, Bell Laboratories, Lucent Technologies, and Agilent.

Neil was kind, smart and incredibly funny.  No one enjoyed a good joke more than Neil.  He was an avid reader and had an amazing curiosity for life and knowledge. He was also extremely handy and enjoyed using his telescopes to study the stars and planets.  Neil loved his family fiercely and never forgot anyone’s birthday.  He enjoyed entertaining.  His door was always open to stop by and Christmas and Thanksgiving dinners were always spent on Center Road.

Neil was the loving father of Janice Miller (Michael) and Jennifer Miller (Mark), caring grandfather of David, Jessica, Jacqueline, Amanda, Lauren, and Kayla.  He was the dear brother of Joan Dietrich (Rick), Bill Ferry (Jackie), and Donald Ferry (Debbie).  He was predeceased by his brother Geoffrey Ferry.

Relatives and friends will be gathering for a private service.
