Muriel Yvonne Farmer

Muriel Yvonne Farmer (née Hudson) passed away peacefully at her home in Paoli, PA on December 13, 2023 from congestive heart failure.  She joins her dearly beloved husband of 34 years, Roy O’Donald (1991), and her son, Donald Lee (2019), along with her parents, siblings and deceased loved ones.

                Muriel is survived by her loving daughter and constant companion, Mary; her daughter, Amy (Schultz); her Christmas Twins, Andy and Anna (Cabot); her Grand-Son, Bryan; her grandchildren, Anastasia (Schultz), Crysta, Carissa (Brown), Nicole (Schultz), Lauren (Kernan), Robert (Bauman), and Andrew; several great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and many loved ones.

                Muriel was born in Pulaski, VA and began working at the age of 16 to help support her family.  After marrying, she spent time in Alexandria, VA, Highpoint, NC, Houston, TX, Norfolk, VA, and ultimately settled in Philadelphia, PA.  She began as a volunteer reading aid for the School District of Philadelphia, and thereafter became the assistant to the Reading Coordinator.  After her retirement, she returned to work as a team member for Kmart Corporation, with her second retirement several years later. 

                Muriel enjoyed spending precious moments with her family, sharing her culinary knowledge (especially “Mom’s Chili” and the secret ingredient: Love), and passing time with word/jigsaw puzzles and artwork.  Muriel met every challenge with strength and fortitude and most often with a smile.  May her light of love and kindness shine forth in the many lives of those touched by her presence.

                Her final two years were spent in the exceptional care of the kind and incomparable staff and residents of Daylesford Crossing in Paoli, PA, where her daughter, Mary continues to blossom, as she makes her own way through the world.

                A Celebration of Life will be held Sunday, May 5, 2024, 2pm.  (Details will follow) Interment will occur Sunday May 12, 2024 at Thornspring Methodist Church Cemetery, 5670 Thornspring Church Road (Rt. 639) , Dublin VA 24084. 

        In lieu of flowers, we request that donations be made in her memory to GAMP Parent & Alumni Organization.  Checks should be made payable to GAMP Parent & Alumni Organization and mailed to Girard Academic Music Program, 2136 W.
