Glenn Mary E."Betty" Glenn (nee Nearey), 79, Died on October 27, 2011 at Crozer Chester Medical Center. Mrs. Glenn was born in Upper Darby and lived in Colwyn and Collingdale before moving to Ridley Park in 1954. Mrs Glenn was a 1949 graduate of Notre Dame, Moylan. Before raising a family she worked for Fitzgerald-Mercy Hospital and the Philadelphia Electric Company. Mrs. Glenn is presently a volunteer on the Ridley Park Youth Aid Panel (since 1998), the Ridley Park Planning Commission (since 2004). In years past she has served as a volunteer with the Girls Scouts, Boy Scouts, former Ridley Park Boys Club, Homeroom Mother, Treasure of Leedom PTA, Board Mother at Ridley South, Board of RAMP (Ridley Association of Music Parents) at Ridley High School, Lakeview Elementary School and Taylor Hospital. She is a member of PA State Fireman's Assoc Aux, Del Co Fireman's Ladies Aux, Past President, Secretary Treasure and current director of Ridley Park Fire Co Aux. She became a Life Member in 2005 and was presented with a 50 years of service award in 2007. She is a member of St Madeline Church, Ridley Park. She was married to the late Robert J. Glenn in 1951, Loving mother of two sons Robert W. (Peggy) Glenn of Norwood and James P. (Sheila) Glenn of Ridley Park. Two Daughters JoAnn P. Glenn of Dover, De., and Susan M. (Dan) Eastman of Norwood, seven grandchildren Theresa Glenn, Katie Lewin, Elizabeth Glenn, Patrick Glenn, Alex Kime, Robert G. Glenn and Jake Lewin, half sister Kathleen McAnniffe of Collingdale, one half brother Philip Lydon of Upper Darby and numerous nieces and nephews. Two sisters Barbara Nearey and Phyllis McLernon predeceased her. Relatives and friends are invited to Betty's Life Celebration Wednesday, November 2, 2011, 6-8PM and Thursday 8-9:15AM at James F. Knoetgen of Morton, 746 Kedron Ave (Rt. 420). Followed by her Mass of Christian Burial 10AM at St Madeline R.C. Church, Ridley Park, PA. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, Yeadon.
