September 10, 1944 — June 23, 2025

Mickey J. Mangos 80 of Coatesville, PA, passed away June 23, 2025

Born September 10, 1944 in Wichita, KS, she was the daughter of the late Lawrence R. and Vera M. (nee Dunning) Curtin.

Mickey’s father was a career army officer and as such she spent some her elementary school years in Japan and high school years in Germany. She attended Texas Woman’s University in Denton, Texas and graduated with a degree in Social Work. Mickey and Pete met and married in Killeen, Texas when he was in the army and Mickey was in college at Texas Woman’s University. After Mickey graduated and Pete was discharged, they moved to PA.

After working as a social worker for the state of PA Mickey changed professions and became an elementary school teacher in the Upper Merion school district. After several years Mickey chose to start a family and be a stay-at-home mom. When their sons Brian and Stephen were in school Mickey held several part-time positions. She worked as the administrator of her church nursery school; she was the office manager of a graphics design company and worked for a scientific products company.

After retiring from work, Mickey was very active in the neighborhood community participating in a Red Hat group and serving in a travel committee where she and a friend organized and managed trips to NYC to see Broadway Shows. Mickey was an avid reader, which was her principal hobby. She also enjoyed traveling and she and Pete travelled extensively in Europe and made trips to Singapore and China. Mickey also enjoyed the ocean cruises they took to the Caribbean, Mexico, Bermuda and Canada.

Mickey was the beloved wife of Peter G. Mangos, loving mother of Stephen Mangos (daughter-in-law Erica) and Brian Mangos (daughter-in-law Kristin). She was predeceased by her sister Patricia Sackett (Paul) and cousin John Ellis. John and his brother Jim (Dolores) lived with the family from childhood along with Mickey’s brother Larry Curtin (Claudia).

Mickey and Pete had planned to be interred together in Arlington National Cemetery.
