Michael "Mike" O'Donovan

Michael “Mike” O’Donovan, 92, passed peacefully from this world on May 2. Born in Dunmanway, Ireland, he was one of four brothers, all of whom predeceased him. Mike emigrated to the Bronx, New York in 1949. He became a proud citizen of the United States and served in the NY State National Guard. He began a career with the NYC Transit Authority and eventually moved to Bergen County, New Jersey where he raised six children – Timothy, Michael, Maureen Karon, James, Colleen Rusoff and Thomas (deceased).  Following his retirement, Mike spent time some time in Manchester, NJ before moving with his daughter to Wayne, Pennsylvania where he spent his last years.

Throughout his life Mike traveled regularly back to the country of his birth and leaves behind family and friends in both countries. He is survived by his five remaining children as well as his Son-in-Law Bill Rusoff; Daughter-in-Law Kathryn O’Donovan; grandchildren Sean O’Donovan and his wife Kathleen, Christopher Rusoff and his wife Jenn, Michael Karon and his wife Alli, Kimberly Ciufo and her husband Frank, Ryan and Meaghan O’Donovan, and; great-grandchildren Jack, Finn, Murphy, Shannon O’Donovan, Sloane Karon and Brody Ciufo as well as numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

His family would like to invite all who shared in the joy of knowing Mike to join us as we celebrate his life and mourn his passing. Visitation will be held 7:00-9:00 PM Friday, May 5, 2023 at The Donohue Funeral Home, 366 W. Lancaster Avenue, Wayne, PA 19087, 610-989-9600, and his Funeral Mass 11:00 AM Saturday, May 6, 2023 at St. Isaac Jogues Church, 50 W. Walker Road, Wayne, PA 19087. Interment private.
