Michael G. Micola

1951 — 2026

Drexel Hill

Michael G. Micola, 75, of Drexel Hill, Pennsylvania passed away on July 4, 2026.

He was born in Philadelphia, PA to Michael and Alberta Micola. Mick grew up in his beloved Westbrook Park, Clifton Heights and later lived most of his life in Drexel Hill, PA.

He was a graduate of Upper Darby High School where he developed skills as a designer/draftsman. Mick had an extensive work history in his field, working for some of the top firms in the country. His work took him from coast to coast, with his excellent skills being in high demand.

Many lives will never be the same. Mick was the name he used for friends, Mike for business associates. He was one of the sweetest, loving and trusting friends; more than a friend, he was a brother. His passing will leave a void in the lives of so many and can never be replaced. He leaves behind many broken hearts that will never be mended.

In the sixties, he and his dad assembled a “group” made up of four teenagers with Mick being the drummer and percussionist. “The Ascensions” played at various venues including the Bonner Mixer, Holy Cross Battle of the Bands, multiple frat parties and even with Jerry Blavat.

Over the years, Mick was the catalyst with friends by organizing events to see Ten Years After, David Bowie, Led Zeppelin, Spirit, Joe Cocker, Red Bone, Lee Ritenour, WAR, Tower of Power, The Average White Band, The Doobie Brothers, and recently The Mavericks, to name a few.

Mick was an avid outdoorsman. He loved to fish and hunt and was one of the founding members of the Phi-Del-Mont Hunting Club in Tunkhannock, PA, a cabin he frequently enjoyed with his fiancé, Maryann Clark. Mick loved camping, hunting, gun collecting and knife collecting. Mick was a talented craftsman in woodworking and leathercraft, often gifting handmade wallets, knife sheaths, and holsters to his friends. A devoted follower of Padre Pio, he also created exquisite handmade rosary beads inspired by the saint and generously gifted them to those in need of prayer. Mick was also an avid Phillies fan and had the T-Shirts to prove it. He will also be remembered for the camping, target shooting, and cooking on the bonfire for those with him at the time. He was always the jokester amusing everyone in his company. Mick would talk to anyone in everyday life and would pass compliments to any random acquaintances with his witty small talk.

Mickey was not only a father figure, he was a godfather, an uncle, and a grandfather to his “adopted” grandchildren. He was such a huge part of their lives, celebrating mostly every birthday and holiday party with them. He was a beacon of light and laughter in the lives of so many. Uncle Mickey was unlike anyone else. He not only made you laugh; he also instilled such happiness and comedic relief. He was so kind and loving to this family by bringing gifts to all the kids looking forward to his arrival.

Mick is survived by his fiancé of thirteen years, Maryann Clark; sister, Sue Smart; nieces, Susie Johnson in Florida, and Sherry Owens; nephew, Ralph Smart; ex-wife Claudia; daughter Marianne; and 2 grandchildren.

Mick had an unmatched personality. His helpfulness and generosity will be missed by all, particularly by his band of brothers from Westbrook Park.
