Michael P. Gallen, age 63, of Glen Mills, PA, passed away suddenly on April 27, 2026. Born in Darby, PA, he was the son of Marie (nee Hartley) and the late John J. Gallen.
Michael was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend, who meant so much to so many.
Michael was truly one of a kind – always a self-employed entrepreneur, from his early days caddying at Llanerch, his teenage days as the host of many parties, and his lifelong work as owner operator of Brownies and Barnaby's. Whether you were close family, a lifelong friend or someone he just met – he always had a smile to greet you and a unique ability to make you feel seen and cared for. Michael was selfless, had a heart of gold, and a sense of humor that could light up a room in an instant. He always led by example, which was a hard one to follow, but crafted many great people in his footsteps.
When Michael wasn’t at Barnaby’s or in Glen Mills, he loved spending time with family and friends in Ocean City, NJ. You could find him riding jetskis to the Deauville, or on the beach, most often playing games or beside his grandkids, being “G-Pop”, digging holes in the sand.
Michael’s love and protection of his family was above all else. His bond with them was something special – full of laughter, patience, play, and unconditional love.
We remember him with a smile and a laugh, just as he would have wanted.
Michael was the beloved husband of Sharon Gallen (nee Hendricks); loving father of Tyler (Ally), Troy, Makayla, and Drew; adoring grandfather of Rory and Stevie Gallen; caring brother-in-law of Russell Hendricks (Lane), Billy Hendricks (Kelli), and Kate Daley-Yankanich (Bill); devoted brother of Maureen Manske (Dan), Anne Krupa (Paul), John Gallen, Karen Larsson (Bengt), Rosemary Weaver (Joseph), Patricia Nicholson (Steve), Francis Gallen, and Robert Gallen (Susan); and loyal son-in-law of Russ Hendricks (Judy).
Family and friends are invited to Michael’s Viewing from 5:00-8:00 PM on Friday, May 1st at The Donohue Funeral Home, 8401 West Chester Pike, Upper Darby, PA 19082, and to his Funeral Mass at 10:30 AM on Saturday, May 2nd at Sacred Heart Church, 105 Wilson Ave, Havertown, PA 19083.
