Our dear son, Michael Stephen Eland, 19, went to be with his Savior on Monday, July 16, 2018.
He was larger than life; born to lead by actions and not just by words.
His smile lit up our lives.
His laugh filled our house with joy.
The hours we spent criss-crossing the nation to watch you play hockey were a blessing that seems only a hockey parent would truly understand.
The time chatting during long car rides and eating dinners together and waiting for planes-those conversations about life and faith and friends are treasures we hold onto.
We so loved seeing the man God had grown you into: independent, strong and loving.
You had every friend's back.
You lifted up the young, the weak and the helpless.
It's not what you did; it was who you were.
Our hearts exploded with indescribable joy earlier this month when you explained how you decided to stop running from God and start running toward God.
And now you have run right into our Savior's loving arms-much sooner than we ever could have imagined.
We are so proud of you son.
Michael was the beloved son of Stephen and Lynda (nee Kugel) Eland; loving brother of Lauren and Kristin Eland; dear grandson of Kay and the late Kenneth Eland and Betty and the late Robert Kugel; nephew of Kenneth (Diane) Eland, Beverly (Jaime) Cordero, Karen Bondrowski, Leonard and Glenn (Virginia) Kugel; cousin of Cheryl King, Kenneth, Danielle, and Kathryn Eland, Misty (John) McManus, Sara (Charles) Mullenix, Erik and Ryan (Amanda) Bondrowski, and Cheyanne and Nicole Kugel.
Relatives and friends are invited to his Visitation 11 AM-1 PM Saturday, July 21, 2018 at Christ Community Church, 1190 Phoenixville Pike, West Chester, PA 19380 followed by a Life Celebration service at 1 PM. Interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to International Tribal Ministries (ITM).
In the summer of 2015 and 2017 Michael went to Bolivia to work with ITM to serve poor and unreached children in remote parts of Bolivia.
