Michael G. DeFino, Esq., of Newtown Square, PA, a distinguished attorney who left an indelible mark on the legal profession, passed away on January 9, 2025, at the age of 79.
Born in Philadelphia, PA, he was the son of the late Rocco DeFino, D.D.S. and Violet (née Bono) DeFino. Michael was the beloved husband of the late Valerie (née Burlett) DeFino; the loving father of Jennifer Pavlovitz (John) and Christian DeFino (Amanda); and the caring stepfather of Jacqueline B. Sutter, D.O. (Mark) and Jonathan B. Sutter. D.O. (Leslie). He was the proud grandfather of Noah Pavlovitz, Selah Pavlovitz, and Rocco DeFino, and the kindhearted step-grandfather of Jonathan Sutter, Juliette Sutter, and Cameron Sutter. Michael is also survived by his siblings, Judy Parsons (late Arthur J., Jr.), Robert DeFino (late Denise), and Donna D’Alessandro, as well as many loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and a large network of friends.
Michael was a proud graduate of La Salle University and Widener University Law School. His career spanned over 45 years, primarily focusing on Criminal Defense, Estate Planning and Administration, and Elder Law. His expertise and dedication to the law were not only hallmarks of his professional identity but also testaments to a relentless pursuit of justice and equity for those he represented.
Michael was a member of the first graduating class of Delaware Law School (now Widener Law School) in 1975. He was a long-time member of the Widener University Board of Trustees (Executive Committee) and currently is an Honorary Trustee. He was previously the Chairman of the Widener University Law School Board of Overseers (now Board of Advisors). He was a past Chancellor of the Justinian Society comprised of attorneys, judges and law students of Italian-ancestry.
Aside from the law, golf was Michael's passion. He was a long-standing member of Rolling Green Golf Club, having served as its President for two terms. Many lasting friendships were forged both on the course and off.
Family, friends, and colleagues are invited in honoring his life. A Visitation will be held on Friday, January 17, 2025, 9:30 AM to 10:55 AM at St. Mary Magdalen Church, 2400 N. Providence Road, Media, PA 19063, followed by his Funeral Mass at 11:00 AM. Interment thereafter at SS Peter and Paul Cemetery, Springfield, PA.
