Merrell H. Miles, Jr., age 84, of West Chester, PA, exchanged his earthly address for a heavenly one on April 27, 2026.
He was born November 28, 1941 at Taylor Hospital to Merrell H., Sr. and Florence S. Miles of Chester Plaza. At the age of 13, he asked Jesus to be his Saviour. He attended Eddystone High School and married his love, Margaret B. Alfeche. Together they shared over 64 wonderful years of marriage and had 5 children.
Merrell was not only a hard worker, but a creative soul, from his youth he played the clarinet and liked to sing. He even learned some tap and later dabbled in guitar and saxophone. He liked to paint scenes and created horticultural landscapes in his yard.
Being multi-talented in many areas, he worked in several types of careers from earth moving equipment, cement fabrication, and tractor trailer driving.
He graduated from Baptist Bible College, Springfield, MO, with a Theology degree and went on to pastor in NJ as well as assist churches with teaching and visitation in Delaware, Maryland, and Pennsylvania.
He established and led a Christian Bible Club at Penn State, Lima. It included ministry to Vietnamese and Cambodian refugees in Philadelphia.
Merrell is survived by his wife and children, Margaret M. Baillie (John), Merrell H. Miles, III, Matthew T. Miles, April J. Campbell (Mark), Steve L. Miles (Lili), and 9 grandchildren, his sister Florence Thompson, and brother John David Miles. He is predeceased by his parents and sister, Ethel.
Viewing will be held May 1, 2026 at Bible Baptist Church, 1237 Paoli Pike, West Goshen, PA, at 10:00 AM followed by his Funeral at 11:00 AM. Burial will be at Mt. Hope Cemetery, Aston, PA.
The family thanks our doctor, staff, clergy, and hospice members at Riddle Memorial for their compassion and care. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Missionary Fund at Bible Baptist Church in Merrell's Memory. "To be absent from the body and to be present with the Lord" II Cor. 5:8.
