Melissa West Rhodes

Melissa West Rhodes, age 56, of Haverford, PA, passed away on July 14, 2025 after a valiant battle against cancer. For nearly three years, she underwent relentless treatments with courage and grace, never complaining – and never surrendering.

Melissa was born and raised in Warrington, PA in 1969. She attended Barclay Elementary School and Tamanend Junior High School, and graduated from Central Bucks East High School in 1987. She earned her B.A. in Sociology from Penn State in 1991.

She was a dedicated employee of the Haverford Township Recreation Department for over a decade. She considered her colleagues to be part of her family.

Melissa was a loving and caring mother to her daughters. She found sheer joy in raising them, nurturing them with kindness and love. Melissa treasured the time spent with family and friends around the dinner table and at restaurants. She loved going to the beach and looking at the moon and stars. She was kind to one and all. And of course, she was besotted with her beloved Goldendoodle, Beau.

Melissa was the beloved wife of William C. Rhodes; loving mother of Mary Abigail Rhodes, age 24, and Elizabeth Anne Rhodes, age 20; devoted daughter of Bruce Calvert and Carol (nee Sivo) West; dear sister of Braden Calvert West (Sharon); and is also survived by many cousins, nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to her Visitation at 12:30-3:00 PM Friday, July 18, 2025 at the Haverford Community Recreation and Environmental Center, 9000 Parkview Drive, Haverford, PA 19041. Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to the Penn Pancreatic Cancer Research Center, 3535 Market Street, Suite 750, Philadelphia, PA 19104, would be appreciated.
