Maureen M. Carmen, age 74, of Secane, PA, formerly of Lansdowne, PA, passed away on October 2, 2020.
Born in Philadelphia, PA, she was the daughter of the late Robert P. and Margaret V. (nee Gray) Carmen.
Maureen was a graduate of Archbishop Prendergast High School, Class of ’64. She was employed for 19 years with the Philadelphia Inquirer as a Features Editor and Assistant. For many years, Maureen was the director of the Marple Community Theater and also enjoyed acting and directing. She was an avid reader who read thousands of books, and loved crossword puzzles.
Maureen is survived by her beloved siblings, Peggy Ann Kirkpatrick, Kathleen Carmen (Raymond Cochard), Patty Courson (Don), Mariellen Carmen Harris (Stephen), Robert P. Carmen (Donna), Bernadette Noel (Leon), and Brendan Carmen (Sally), many nieces and nephews, and great nieces and great nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to her Visitation Thursday, October 8, 2020 from 10:00-10:50 AM at St. Anastasia Church, 3301 West Chester Pike, Newtown Square, PA 19073, followed by her Funeral Mass at 11:00 AM. Interment is private. Family requests that everyone wear a mask and follow CDC protocols on social distancing.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory to St. Vincent DePaul Society c/o St. Anastasia Church, 3301 West Chester Pike, Newtown Square, PA 19073, would be greatly appreciated.
