Matthew Markowitz "Witz" of Springfield, departed this life on Monday, May 14, in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. He is survived by his parents, Dale and Cathy Markowitz, his sisters, Tara, Kristen, and Amanda, grandmother Margaret, and five nieces and nephews, Ava, Sebastian, Vanessa, Lawrence, and Juliette, along with many aunts, uncles, and cousins. He is predeceased by his maternal grandparents, Butch and Catherine Clifton, his paternal grandfather William Markowitz, his uncle James Markowitz and his cousin Michael Ryan. Matthew was a graduate of Springfield High School, class of 2011, where he participated in numerous sports such as, lacrosse, football, soccer, track, basketball and wrestling. He went on to study at DCCC to become EMT certified. "Witz " was an active member in the electronic music scene, Bassnectar being his passion, and thrived on attending festivals and social events. He was a creative artist as well who painted abstract. His quirkiness and outgoing personality made him a fun, caring and loving person to all who knew and loved him. Relatives and friends are invited celebrate Matthew's life with his viewing at Knoetgen -Donohue Funeral Home, 746 Kedron Ave,(Route 420), Morton, PA 19070 Tuesday, May 22 from 8:30-11:30 AM, followed by a Mass at OLPH Church , 2130 Franklin Ave, Morton, PA at 12:00 Noon. Interment private. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations provided to Bridge to Recovery Foundation at www.bridgetorecoveryfoundation.org to help support those battling addiction.
