Mary Qualtieri

Mary T. “Marie” Qualtieri, age 83, is at peace with the Lord. She passed quietly on August 10, 2021 at Crozer-Chester Medical Center, after a long-fought battle with lung complications.

She was born in Philadelphia, PA on January 19, 1938 to John and Mary Sekel and was the oldest of seven. Marie was preceded in death by her husband Louis, her parents, her brothers Thomas & Edward, and her granddaughter Marlo Panvini.

Marie attended West Philadelphia Catholic Girls High School. She lived most of her life in the South Philadelphia area, and in later years lived briefly in Richmond, Virginia, and then most recently resided in a caring community in Glenolden, Pennsylvania. Marie had a passion for fashion and cosmetology and worked at a Beauty Salon in Center City Philadelphia for several years until her retirement.

She has six surviving children Jack (Sharon), Patricia (David), Michael (Karen), Timothy (Jackie), Thomas (Julie), and Daniel (Renee).  She is also survived by her brothers and sisters; Jack Sekel, Robert Sekel, Noreen Stone, and Kass Swainson. Marie was also blessed with 13 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild.

A private memorial service for the family is scheduled for September 18, 2021.  Marie will be placed at rest next to her beloved husband Louis at the SS. Peter and Paul Cemetery in Springfield, Pennsylvania.
