Mary Catherine Lessing Peterson (nee McClory) aged 93 years, of Wynnewood, PA, passed away on Sunday, April 1, of complications from dementia and congestive heart failure.
Born in Philadelphia, she was the daughter of the late James P. and Katherine B. McClory (nee Mulhern).
She was a proud graduate of West Catholic High School for Girls, Class of 1942. She attended Temple University Tyler School of Art.
She was a volunteer for many years at Presentation BVM Church in Wynnewood, PA as a Eucharistic Minister, with the CCD program, and on the church decorating committee. She also served as President of the Women's Club at the Penn Athletic Club in Center City, and spearheaded the club's involvement with the Rittenhouse Flower Market.
Mary was the beloved wife of the late Robert H. Lessing, and the late John W. Peterson, Jr.
She was preceded in death by her only son, Robert A. Lessing, her devoted daughter, Susan M. Diciacomo, her brothers William J. and James P. McClory, Jr., and her sister Florence McClory Wagner.
Survived by her sister Kathleen M. Floyd of Lakeland, FL, her loving daughters Mona Lessing Harroch (Richard) of San Francisco, CA and Constance Lessing Denisewicz (Leonard) of Wynnewood, PA and her son-in-law Alfonse DiGiacomo of Newtown Square, PA.
"Nana" is also survived by her eight grandchildren, Sierra Lessing McMonagle (James) of Downingtown, PA, Lauren Templeton Christie (William) of Drexel Hill, PA, Ian and Andrew Templeton of Upper Darby, PA, Alexander Harroch of Queens, NY, Leslie Harroch King (Sarah) of San Francisco, CA, Amy Denisewicz Delargey (Ryan) of Glen Mills, PA, and Thomas Denisewicz of Wynnewood, PA, and her eight great-grandchildren, Conor, Sam, Jackson, and Caitlin McMonagle, Amelia and Cole Christie, and Andrew and Ryan Templeton. She was Aunt Mary to many nieces and nephews in PA, NJ, FL, NY, and CA.
The family would like to express their heartfelt appreciation to Lisa Sardinopoli, M.D., Mary's dedicated physician for many years, her devoted caregivers, Kereen Wright and Maxine Thompson, and to the team from Main Line Health Homecare and Hospice for their compassion and comfort to Mary and the family.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit the family on Saturday, April 7, at 9 AM at Presentation BVM Church, 240 Haverford Road, Wynnewood, PA 19096, and immediately following to her Memorial Mass at 10 AM. Interment at Westminster Cemetery, Bala Cynwyd, PA.
