Mary Marcia O’Connor (nee Macom), 87, of Wayne, PA, formerly of Merion Station, PA, passed away peacefully on March 11, 2026, holding hands with the love of her life, her devoted husband, James J. OConnor
Marcia was born in New Brunswick, NJ. In her early years, she worked as a model, reflecting the grace and beauty that remained part of her throughout her life. One summer in Pt Pleasant Beach, NJ- where both families vacationed- Marcia met Jim. They began dating, starting a partnership and love story that would last a lifetime.
Together they built a home in Merion Station, where they raised their five children. Marcia volunteered in the St Margaret School library, where her children attended, and was active in the Bala Cynwyd Women’s Club. Later, Marcia and Jim became co-owners of The Ale House in Newtown Square, which they proudly owned and operated for more than 30 years. All five of their children worked there at one time or another. The restaurant became a beloved local gathering place, reflecting Marcia’s warm and welcoming spirit.
Above all else, her greatest joy was her family. While helping run the restaurant, she also spent countless cherished hours babysitting her grandchildren, all of whom adored their “Grammy.”
Marcia was predeceased by her parents, Dr John Morgan Macom and Claire Schenck Macom Devine; her brother, Dr John Morgan Macom Jr.; her sister, Diane Mullen; her infant grandson, Stephen James Frisina; and her daughter- in- law, Tara O’Connor.
She is survived by her beloved husband of 68 years, James O’Connor; and their children: James J. O’Connor Jr. (Patty) of Santa Fe, NM; Erin O’Connor McElwee of Downingtown, PA; Leslie Frisina (Mark) of Siesta Key, FL; Thomas Morgan O’Connor (Brettania) of Flagstaff, AZ; and Cindy Kulp (Joe) of West Chester, PA. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren, with 1 on the way.
