Mary Frances Kusner died peacefully in her home on Sunday, January 7, 2024. A longtime resident of Drexel Hill, PA, Mary (and her dog Bailey) were known and loved by many of her neighbors.
Mary was born in Philadelphia, PA to Edward John Kusner and Mary Frances (Yeager) Kusner and spent the first part of her life growing up in Southwest Philadelphia before moving with her family to Drexel Hill. She was the middle child and only girl in the family with one older brother, Edward John Kusner, Jr. and one younger brother, Joseph Lloyd Kusner, both deceased. She graduated from West Catholic Girls High School before starting her career at Ryerson Steel. Mary worked at Ryerson Steel for over 30 years before retiring. She was fondly remembered by many of her colleagues who described her as a kind and loving coworker.
A huge fan of all Philadelphia sports, Mary’s favorite team was the Phillies which she followed religiously.
While she never had children of her own, Mary took great pride in her nieces and nephews and then years later in their partners and children. She even helped raise several of her great nephews.
Prior to her death, she bravely fought cancer three times and beat it every time. Her quiet strength was admirable.
Mary Frances is lovingly survived by her niece Jill Kusner Rowlett (m. Jeffrey Rowlett), nephews Paul Kusner, James Kusner (m. Kristin Kusner), sister-in-law Lea Kusner, great niece Elizabeth Frances Rowlett as well as many cousins and friends-like-family Steven Holland, Tyler Holland, Nicole Holland Apedoh (m. David Apedoh), Ethan Apedoh, and Ryan Apedoh.
Services will take place on Friday, January 12 at 11:00 AM at St. Andrew’s the Apostle Church located at 3500 School Ln, Drexel Hill, PA 19026.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Providence Animal Center 555 Sandy Bank Rd. Media, PA 19063.
