Mary Catherine Kshirsagar

Mary Catherine Kshirsagar (nee Smith), age 89, of Media, PA, passed away peacefully on February 16^th, 2024. She is predeceased by her beloved husband of 40 years, Shrirang Kshirsagar.  Mary was the loving daughter of the late Dan and Mary Smith (nee Moloney) of Ireland.

Mary is survived by her cousins, Helen Kain (Jim), James, Patrick, John and Joseph Brogan (Lisa), and Marguerite Hennessy; nieces, Preeti Jadhav Phadtare (Pranav) and Smita Abhang (Sushant); and nephews, Ajit Kshirsagar (Shital) and Kiran Sonavane (Vidya). She is also survived by her extended family in India, Ireland and Australia. 

Mary was born in Philadelphia and moved back to Ireland at the age of 3, spending her childhood years in the hills of County Kerry. She returned to the United States when she was 18 and began working at the University of the Arts in Philadelphia. 

Mary met her husband, Shri, in Philadelphia and they settled in Wilmington, Delaware. It was here she began working for the state Library system. She was quite the traveler at all ages, visiting Ireland, England, India, and Russia among other places.

Mary was an independent spirit, an avid reader of British and Irish literature, and a life-long learner who loved long walks in Rockford Park. She was truly one of a kind and will be missed by all who knew her. 

Relatives and friends are invited to her Visitation Saturday March 2^nd, 2024 1:00pm to 2:00pm, with a 2:00pm Service at The Donohue Funeral Home, 8401 West Chester Pike, Upper Darby, PA 19082.
