Mary Jo D’Alessandro, 52, of Divine Providence Village in Springfield, PA became an Angel on December 11. She touched the hearts of everyone who knew her. She was the social butterfly of DPV and loved to be a part of all aspects of the Village. She worked at Mrs. Marty’s Deli for 18 years and loved her job. Music was a big part of her life. She sang with The State Street Miracles through The Media Theater. Lean on Me was her song and she sang it with gusto. She traveled to Rome and met future saint, Pope John Paul II. She loved watching Dancing with the Stars and fulfilled a dream of going to Hollywood. Her favorite expressions were “It’s fine with me” and “can’t waste God’s food”. She loved being with her family and always took center stage with microphone in hand at get togethers. She also loved to dance and had some great moves. She loved being with Ron & Rene going to the D&K for a #10 breakfast after church and cracking open a bottle of champagne with dinner. She loved our friends, Ralph, Ed & Betty & the Bear, Mike. Her special friend, Michael took her to the prom in the 1990’s and they reunited in 2016. She was a big Phillies & Eagles fan, too. She is predeceased by her mother, Mary, her grandparents, Uncles Fr. Bill, Ed, Chip, Henry & John and brother-in- law Jesse. She is survived by her father and stepmother, Joe and Kathleen (Kim), brother, Marc (Kara), stepsister, Kari, nephews Sean, Brody & Andrew and niece, Abbey. Also, her Godmother Joan, Godfather Anthony, Aunts Betty, Pat, Nancy & Nina; Uncles Al, John & Phil, as well as many cousins and friends. We are so grateful for the love and care Mary Jo received from the staff at DPV.
Mass will be held at the Divine Providence Village Chapel on Saturday, December 16 at 11 a.m. with a celebration of her life reception at noon. We are establishing a music room at DPV in her honor to provide instruments and programs for the residents and ask that contributions be made to Divine Providence Village c/o Angela Babcock at 686 Old Marple Road, Springfield, PA 19064.
