Mary Fitzgerald

Mary Fitzgerald, age 66, of Havertown, PA, formerly of Philadelphia, PA passed away at home on August 22, 2021 surrounded by her loving family.

Mary is survived by her adoring husband of 35 years, Marty; her beloved children, Joe (Kelly), Michael (Kari), Sean (Kate), and Kelly; her treasured grandchildren, Natalie, Ryan and Nathan; her mother, Carmelita and siblings Hugh (Anna), Terri (Mike), Mike (Maryellen), Mark (Eileen), Greg (Nicolette); along with many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her cherished son, Chris; her grandmother Theresa Sessa, her brother Bucky; sister, Carm; and the late Joe Gibbons.

If you’ve ever met Mary, you know the way she lit up a room. Her quick wit and unfiltered sense of humor created lifelong memories for everyone who was lucky enough to know her. She enjoyed the simple things in life; such as road trips, tournaments, Miller High Life and a good Jimmy Buffet concert. We’re all proud to say we have a “Mary Rita story”.

Her family will remember her as the glue that kept us together. Whether she’s cooking family dinners, driving cross-country for tournaments, or shopping a year in advance for Christmas gifts, we can always count on a laugh during the process. Mary ensured her children and grandchildren knew they were the light of her life.

Anyone who has spent minimal time with Mary and Marty can feel their undeniable spark for one another. As their wedding song suggests, they’ve always been best friends in love. Together they raised a beautiful family and created unforgettable memories. They truly danced their way through life together, hand in hand.

The celebration of Mary’s life is scheduled for Friday, August 27, 2021. Family and friends are invited to her viewing 8:00-9:30 AM at The Donohue Funeral Home, 3300 West Chester Pike, Newtown Square, PA 19073, 610-353-6300, followed by a Mass 10:00 AM St. Pius X Church, 220 Lawrence Road, Broomall, PA 19008. Interment at SS Peter and Paul Cemetery.
