Mary Ann Petransky

June 19, 1938 — October 29, 2025

Mary Ann Petransky, age 87, passed away on October 29, 2025. Born in Philadelphia, PA she was the beloved daughter of the late William J. and Mary Grace Petransky (nee Filipsin). Mary Ann was formerly of Youngstown, OH and Philadelphia, PA but she spent most of her life as a resident of 154 Shadeland Ave, Drexel Hill, PA. She moved to Drexelbrook in 1995, Somers Point, NJ in 2004, and finally Autumn Lake Nursing Home in Linwood, NJ in 2020 where she passed away.

Mary Ann attended St. Charles Borromeo Grade School and Notre Dame High School for Girls in Moylan, PA. After high school, she took Bus Administration courses for 1.5 years at Drexel University. Mary Ann received her Word Processing and Office Management Certificate from Collingdale Community College. While she was taking classes she worked at Clifton Precision and later worked at Continental Insurance in Philadelphia. Mary Ann worked at Jefferson University Hospital Neurology Department and Admissions and Billing Department from 1987-2004 when she retired.

A woman of many interests, she found profound joy in the companionship of her beloved Book Club, losing herself in the pages of stories that illuminated her imagination and expanded her horizons. An avid reader and traveler, she spent countless summers at her cherished shore house rental, the gentle lull of the waves serving as the backdrop to laughter-filled gatherings and moments of solitude where she gathered her thoughts.

A fervent national sports fan, she found delight in the camaraderie of cheering for her favorite teams, seamlessly blending her love for sports with her infectious enthusiasm. Whether engaged in spirited debates about games or discussing recent victories, Mary’s spirited presence was always felt.

Gourmet dining was another passion, as she delighted in exploring new fine dining establishments. Every meal was an opportunity to savor flavors and create memories, often enjoyed over a perfectly crafted martini made with Beefeater Gin—a testament to her refined palate.

Music was a constant theme in her life, with tunes from ABBA and the soothing sounds of Ray Coniff and Jackie Evancho forming the soundtrack to many cherished moments. Their melodies brought her joy and often accompanied her during reflective times, embedding themselves in the fabric of her daily existence.

Mary Ann was the beloved sister of Jane L. Petransky (Joseph Winters) and the late William E. Petransky (Eileen) and caring aunt of Eileen Marie Quigley (Matt), William J. Petransky (Edie), Steven Petransky (Dolores). Also survived by 20 great and grand nieces and nephews.

Mary Ann Petransky lived a life rich with experiences, cherished friendships, and a bold spirit that will forever echo in the hearts of those who knew her. She will be profoundly missed, her legacy was one of kindness, laughter, and a never-ending appreciation for life’s simple pleasures.
