Mary Ann Dougherty (née Powers), a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on May 21, 2026.
Born on October 15, 1939, Mary Ann was a source of love, strength and faith for her family and friends throughout her life.
Known lovingly as “Sea Shore Nan” by her children and grandchildren, Mary Ann found so much happiness at the shore, especially in Ocean City, New Jersey. She loved walking along the beach, breathing in the salt air and finding peace by the water. The beach was one of her favorite places, and it brought her a comfort that those who loved her will always remember.
Mary Ann had a deep faith that guided her throughout her life. She was also a ray of light, with a beautiful smile and a beautiful soul. Her warmth made all around her feel loved, welcomed and deeply cared for. She enjoyed simple things, including her daily 4 p.m. glass of chardonnay, watching the news and cheering on her beloved Phillies, win or lose.
Mary Ann was the rock of her family and the heart of her home. She was deeply loved by her nine children: Robert (Barbara), Mary Ann, Kevin (Kathy), Joseph (Bobbi), Dennis (Laura), Patricia, Timothy (Maureen), Theresa and Kathleen. Her love and legacy is carried on through her 17 grandchildren: Kristin, Ryan, Matthew, Daniel, Kevin, Connor, McKenzie, Joseph, Robert, Erin, Colin, Cara, Justine, Taylor, Steven, Timothy and Shaelyn; and her 15 great-grandchildren: Brody, Connor, Rowan, Dylan, Theo, Ford, Ella, Hendrix, Kiva, Remy, Aria, Asher, Gio, Gavynn and Eleni and Rosie.
Mary Ann was predeceased by her parents, John Joseph and Eleanor Jane Powers; her husband, Robert Dougherty; and her siblings, Jack Powers, Patricia Bush and Michael Powers. She is survived by her sister-in-law, Louise Powers.
