In Loving Memory of

Marlene Ann Woodruff (née Miles)

October 4, 1931 – June 28, 2025

Age 93

Marlene Ann Woodruff passed away peacefully on June 28, 2025, at the age of 93. A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, Marlene was the heart and soul of her family.

She was married to her beloved husband, David Woodruff, for more than 53 years until his passing in 2010. Together, they shared a deep love for New England, the natural world, and the welfare of animals.

Before dedicating herself to raising her family, Marlene trained and worked as a Registered Nurse at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, where her quiet strength and compassion brought comfort to many.

Throughout her life, Marlene gave generously of her time and energy—leading Girl Scout troops, teaching Sunday School, sewing Halloween costumes, baking for community events, and supporting her children and grandchildren in countless ways. She remained closely connected with her grandchildren, even learning to text so she could stay in touch during their college years.

Marlene was predeceased by her son, Scott Richard Woodruff. She is survived by her daughters, Karen Woodruff Leyden (James G.) and Susan Woodruff Fitzgerald; and her grandchildren, Kathryn Leyden, James Leyden, William Leyden, and Richard Miles Fitzgerald. She also leaves behind extended family members and many dear friends who will remember her with love.
