Marjorie "Margie" Finley, born August 13 1952, in Darby, Pennsylvania, peacefully passed away on April 6, 2026. Margie was a devoted mother to her two children and grandmother to her five grandchildren (who lovingly called her "Gigi"), whom she frequently and joyfully spoiled.
Margie was an active and vibrant member of the community. Margie was a proud alumna of the Holy Child School at Rosemont, the Country Day School of the Sacred Heart, and Villanova University. A devout Catholic, Margie was an active member of the St. Monica's Parish. Margie was President of Acorn Industrial Products Co. where she succeeded her late father and Acorn's founder, Robert ("Bob") Alcide Lombard. She was also a member of Aronimink Golf Club, where she co-chaired trapshooting. In the summer, Margie could often be found in Ocean City, New Jersey with a book in hand, searching the beaches for sea glass, or on the boardwalk with her grandchildren.
An accomplished and dedicated athlete all of her life, Margie excelled in competitive figure skating during her youth and spent countless hours training and competing at the Philadelphia Skating Club and Humane Society. Later, she taught children to skate at Philadelphia Skating Club and travelled the country as a judge for U.S. Figure Skating competitions. At Villanova University, Margie co-captained the women's field hockey team while pursuing her degree in business. As a member of both Aronimink and West Chester Gun Club, Margie claimed multiple trapshooting championships in the women's singles and pairs categories over the course of several decades and prided herself on introducing the sport to new people. Throughout her life, Margie dedicated herself to numerous other athletic pursuits, such as tennis, long-distance running, and golf.
Margie is survived by her loving children, John J. Finley IV, MD, together with his wife Jennifer Nansteel, MD, and Suzanne F. Simmons together with her husband Andrew, along with their father, John J. Finley III. Margie's joy extended into the lives of her grandchildren, Grace M. Finley, John J. Finley V, Brynlee R. Simmons, William R. Simmons, and Finley J. Simmons, whom she adored. She is also survived by her brothers Thomas Lombard and Jeffrey Lombard.
Margie was preceded in death by her devoted parents, Robert and Marjory Frances (nee Callahan) Lombard, whose love shaped the foundation of her character and faith.
Relatives and friends will gather to honor Marjorie's memory with a visitation on Saturday, April 11, 2026, at St. Norbert's Church, located at 6 Greenlawn Rd, Paoli, PA 19301, from 8:30 AM to 10:00 AM. This will be followed by a funeral service at the same location from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM.
Through her family, faith, passions and generous spirit, Margie leaves behind a lasting legacy of warmth, kindness, and devotion. Margie will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who had the privilege to know her.
In lieu of flowers, contributions to be made in Margie's name to the Philadelphia Skating Club and Humane Society (pschs.org) or to Mercy Fitzgerald Hospital (trinityhealthma.org/location/mercy-fitzgerald-hospital).
