Mario Joseph Falcone, Sr., affectionately known as “The Wizard,” age 92, of Prospect Park, PA, passed away on August 30, 2026. He was the son of the late Giacomo and Santina (nee Colangoli) Falconi.
Mario lived a life marked by service, humor, skill, and spirited enjoyment of the everyday moments that bring people together. He served in the United States Navy during the Korean War, giving honorable service to his country. His time in the Navy remained an important part of his life, and he was especially proud to have been a cook while serving. He also remained connected to fellow veterans and military history through his membership in American Legion Post 507 in Norwood and the Destroyer Escort Historical Museum.
In his working life, Mario was a meat cutter for a supermarket, bringing dedication and steady effort to his trade. Beyond his work, he was known for a lively personality and a gift for fun. A prankster at heart, he brought laughter to those around him and left behind memories brightened by his wit and playfulness.
Mario embraced life with enthusiasm. He loved playing horseshoes, watching horse racing, and studying the odds as an enthusiastic handicapper on football and horse racing. He also loved bowling and was part of a bowling league many years ago. He enjoyed dancing, cooking, and the companionship of his cats. Whether in the kitchen, on the lanes, following a race, or sharing a joke, he had a way of making life feel animated and full. Family and friends will remember Mario as a man of strong character, deep interests, and unmistakable spirit. His long life was shaped by honorable service, hard work, and the many pleasures he pursued with energy and delight.
Mario was the beloved husband of Margaret E. Falcone (nee Morrow); loving father of Michael J. Falcone (Tatiana), Mark Falcone, Jennifer Lynn Falcone, Michele Strayer (Michael), Terry Brown, Jr. (Christine), and the late Mario J. Falcone, Jr.; adoring grandfather of Michael Falcone, Jr., Camila Falcone, Sofia Falcone, Tina Falcone, Samantha McDade, Terry Brown, III, and Andres; caring brother of the late Alfonso, Yolanda, and Minnie.
