Marina Lee

June 18, 1932 — January 1, 2021

Marina Harker Lee, age 88, of Wayne, PA, passed away on January 1, 2021 in West Chester, PA.  Marina was born in Rome, Italy on June 18, 1932.  She was the beloved daughter of Ernesto and Antonietta (née Carissimi) Licenziati.

Marina is survived by her loving children Elizabeth Robins, Jennifer Harker Schmidt, and her youngest daughter, Alexandra Harker Bubnis.  She is also survived by her dear grandchildren Cameron Robins, Carly Robins, Elena Schmidt, Rebecca Schmidt, Sophia Bubnis, and Austin Bubnis.  She was predeceased by her 1st husband Dr. R. Ian Harker and her 2nd husband Dr. Jeremiah F. Lee “Doc”.

Marina grew up in Italy and survived WWII. At age 16 she immigrated with her mother to the United States. Her heart, however, would remain in Italy for the rest of her life.  She studied Language Arts and earned her degree from Pennsylvania State University.  She had a passion for languages and had a true gift for learning them.  She spoke seven:  Italian, Latin, English, French, Portuguese, Spanish, and Russian.

Marina spent her professional life as a French teacher, a realtor, an interpreter & translator, and a medical office manager.  She enjoyed playing piano, painting, sculpting, and traveling.  Marina loved sharing time and memories with good friends and especially with family.  She had an enormous heart for animals and a serious sweet tooth for chocolate.  Her wonderful sense of humor, contagious laughter, loving heart, and her warm, beautiful smile will be forever missed.  She was truly one of a kind and we have been blessed to call her Mom.  She will always be with us.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the SPCA to support so many animals in need, especially during this unparalleled time in history.
