Marie Elizabeth Neiburg

Marie Elizabeth Neiburg, 98, affectionately known as “EA” by her grandchildren, passed away at her home in Paoli, PA on September 12, 2023. 

Marie was born on June 15, 1925, in Allentown, PA to the late Stephen Gajda and Anna (Sisolak) Gajda. 

Marie's beloved husband, Harold Neiburg, preceded her in passing. They exchanged vows in 1948, a commitment born from Marie's devoted profession as a nurse, where she first cared for Harold at Hines Veterans Hospital in Chicago after injuries sustained in WW II. They shared 61 years together before Harold’s passing in 2010. 

Marie and Harold were longtime members of St. Pius X Church in Broomall, PA. 

During their retirement years, Marie and Harold dedicated themselves to caring for their cherished grandchildren, leaving a legacy of love and nurturing that will forever be treasured by their family.

Marie is survived by two sons, Michael (Michiko) and Robert, a daughter, Judy Young (Khaled Abdou); seven grandchildren: Jessica (Chris Bennett), Megan, and Andrew Young; and Maria, Michael Jr., Matthew Neiburg, and Lena Abdou. She is also survived by two siblings, Teresa Sauerzopf and Stephen Gajda. Marie was preceded in death by two sisters, Helen McMaster and Annie Gajda. 

A special thanks to Marie’s son Robert for his dedication and support towards the end of her life. 

Relatives and friends are invited to her Funeral Mass, Saturday, September 16, 2023 at 10:00 AM at St. Pius X Church, 220 Lawrence Road, Broomall, PA  19008. Interment to follow at SS Peter and Paul Cemetery, Springfield, PA.
