Marie M. Humbert

Marie M.  Humbert, Age 94, of Havertown, PA, passed away on July 27, 2023. Beloved daughter of the late James A. and Hilda W. (nee Weber) Maley.

Marie was predeceased by her husband Harold A. Humbert. Marie is survived by her children, Robert J. (Mary Beth) Humbert, Stephen M. (Lisa) Humbert, and the late Michael (Debbie) Humbert; grandchildren, Bob, John, Patrick, Kristen, Stephen, Matthew, Christopher, and Danielle; great-grandchildren, Ruby, Nola, Quinn, Reid, Jack, Finley, and Aiden; Sibling, Judy (late Charles) Hurchalla; nephews, Chuck and Gregory Hurchalla.

Marie loved to read. English and writing were her passion. That passion led her to help establish the school library at St. Dorothy’s Parish in Drexel Hill.  She continued to manage and work with a volunteer staff of librarians for nearly 28 years.  Marie loved to read to the first-grade students sharing her enthusiasm for books and reading. 

Marie was also an avid tennis player, often playing three times a week up until she was 84. She would have continued to play except for a stroke which left her unable to continue that sport.  She also was a strong Bridge player and had great times playing contracts with her husband and friends.

Marie especially enjoyed taking her eight grandchildren to the Tyler Arboretum especially during the spring and fall seasons where they would go for long walks, climb trees and enjoy a picnic lunch on the grounds. Truly a treat for the grand children to share those special moments with their “Granmom”! 

Relatives and friends are invited to Marie’s viewing Friday, August 4^th, 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM at The Donohue Funeral Home, 8401 West Chester Pike, Upper Darby, PA.  A funeral Mass will be held Saturday, August 5^th at 10:00 AM at St Dorothy’s Church, 4910 Township Line Road, Drexel Hill, PA followed by interment at SS Peter and Paul Cemetery, 1600 Sproul Road, Springfield, PA.
