Marianne S. D’Agostino (née Schmidt), of Newtown Square, PA, formerly of Broomall, PA, a cherished member of the Delaware County community and a woman whose life was marked by devoted service and vibrant enthusiasm, passed away on May 6, 20206.
Born in Philadelphia, PA, at the Salvation Army Hospital, she was the daughter of the late Cornelius and Dorothy (née Kendig) Schmidt.
Marianne was a proud graduate of Haverford High School, where she actively participated in theater, showcasing a love for the performing arts, and was an esteemed member of the Alpha Psi Omega Sorority.
A proud native of Delaware County for most of her life, Marianne’s commitment to her roots was deep and enduring. Marianne’s faith was a cornerstone of her life. She was a devoted parishioner of St. John Newman Church, where she faithfully attended Mass and served with great compassion as an Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion.
During the challenging years of World War II, Marianne took on the vital role of an Air Raid Warden. Her dedication to the safety and well-being of her neighbors during those uncertain times exemplified her courageous and caring nature. Beyond this noble service, she also volunteered and worked part-time as a dental assistant.
Outside of her professional and spiritual pursuits, Marianne was known for her vibrant hobbies and interests. She was an avid bowler, a talented crafter, and a passionate traveler, always eager to explore new places and create beautiful memories. Her home was a warm haven, filled with laughter and love, where she delighted in entertaining friends and family alike.
Marianne was the beloved wife of Richard S. D’Agostino; the loving mother of Diane D’Agostino, Linda Lassiter (Lou), and Dorothy D’Agostino. She is also survived by her 10 precious grandchildren, 18 treasured great-grandchildren, her caring sister, Janet Cullen, and her many friends and acquaintances.
Marianne’s Celebration of Life will be held on Monday, May 11, 2026, commencing at 12:00 PM at Anthony’s Ristorante & Ballroom, located at 865 W. Springfield Rd, Springfield, PA 19064. Interment will be held privately.
